This is because, over time, seaweed has evolved its biochemical compounds (or for better understanding, DNA) to cope with the harsh conditions of its habitat, salty sea water.
Therefore, when seaweed is extracted for fertilising purposes, it transports this ability through its nutrients onto the recipient plant. Strengthening its ability to adapt and overcome external and abiotic causes of stress and in essence, making the plant strong in resistance.
